From Nova Scotia, Canada to Maine, USA
We spent six weeks in our old homeland - Germany and Switzerland - filled with wonderful experiences with family and friends. With a suitcase full of spare parts, we travel back to Canada. Enjoying a few days in Halifax, we can already feel the Christmas spirit in the streets and restaurants, even without snow. Glittering trees and Christmas music in November put us in the mood for the wintry season that lies ahead. Somewhat nervously, it's time to return to the Aegir and fin

Canada - Newfoundland to Nova Scotia
We wanted to end up in Labrador, but the wind had other plans. In Lewisport, Newfoundland, we begin our Canadian journey. It soon becomes clear to us that we are no longer travelling in the Schengen area. Entry and customs become more complicated. You can't just arrive somewhere and check in. You have to follow the 'Port of Entry' information for private ships. Lewisport is just the place for us. We reach Canada after a five-day crossing. After two rough days, we enjoy the pl

Southern Greenland
After a four-day crossing and 660 NM, we spend two weeks exploring South Greenland. Another adventure begins with the crossing. Not necessarily because of the duration, but because of the current low pressure areas with lots of wind and waves, which demand respect. We are also sailing in a less developed area with constantly changing ice conditions. Nevertheless, we start with a sense of anticipation for what is to come. What counts in the end are our experiences and how we d

West Iceland
We are almost two months in Iceland. Arriving on the east coast on June 12, we sail via the north coast to Westfjörde and on to Reykjavik/Akranes. An extended period of southerly winds is expected and we sail on from Isafjördur to Sudureyri. We are granted a free berth on the pier by the harbour master so that the fishing boats can unload their catch in the evening. The smell of fish in the air leaves no doubt about the active fishing industry in this village. It gets lively

Iceland - across the north coast to the Westfjords
Some 288 nautical miles later, we reach the east coast of Iceland. Initially we gain some distance from the coast of the Faroe Islands and the lee of the mountains under engine power, but as the wind picks up, we sail very well on a broad reach towards Iceland. An unpleasant cross swell opposes us for almost the entire crossing. Nevertheless, the wonderful sunny weather with daylight at night makes the journey a real pleasure. There is fog off the coast of Iceland, which then

Faroe Islands
We arrive in Tórshavn on 26 May after 372 nautical miles and 2.5 days and spend just over two weeks on the islands. Our crossing starts under engine power. There were now three of us travelling. We are accompanied by our friend Teresa. At the beginning of the trip, the Parasailer is allowed to go up briefly, only to be recovered again straight away. The predicted light wind is unfortunately a real calm. We can finally sail from the afternoon. We have a rough first night with

The Sognefjord with crew
As we did last year, Christine's mum (Traudi) comes on board with a good friend of ours (Teresa) for 16 days. The sailing trip starts together from Bergen with destination Sognefjord, Flåm. In total we are travelling 282 nm. We board the two of them in Bergen. During the first days of arrival, the weather is wonderfully warm and sunny. The mooring in Bergen's city harbour has a lively city atmosphere. With the heating switched off and the hatches open. A dream! There's a bust

Spring 2024 in Norway
Finally the time has come on 26 March. We set sail from Hellevoitsluis near Rotterdam in the direction of the Norwegian coast. This year's journey will take us from western Norway to the Faroe Islands and Iceland. A favourable weather window takes us all the way to Oslo. With varying wind conditions, we can put our new sailing kit to good use and make good speed. We reach Oslo after just 3.5 days. Mooring outside the city harbour "Aker Brygge". The following morning we learn

Boatwork en más
When we went on our first sailing trip with the Aegir to the north, our motto was: We're testing the ship and the crew! Following the first year of travelling with AEGIR, we also have some ideas for improvements to the ship. To do this, we spend five months over the winter in South Holland with a break from sailing. In addition, we use the time for visits and some skiing in Switzerland. We meet up with our friends and family in Germany and Switzerland several times. It is a g
